Michael Douglas' Sohn muss für Jahre ins Gefängnis

Der Sohn von Hollywoodstar Michael Douglas muss hinter Gitter: Der 31-jährige Cameron Douglas wurde wegen zahlreicher Drogenvergehen zu fünf Jahren Haft verurteilt. Ihm hatte eine Strafe bis zu zehn Jahren gedroht. Seine Familie hatte zuvor in Briefen um Milde gebeten.

New York - Michael Douglas' Sohn Cameron ist am Dienstag vom Manhattan Federal Court wegen Drohenhandels zu fünf Jahren Haft verurteilt worden. Das berichtete der Branchendienst "TMZ". Bei der Urteilsverkündung anwesend waren den Angaben zufolge auch Michael Douglas und Camerons Mutter Diandra. Der 31 Jahre alte Sohn des berühmten Schauspielers hatte bereits zugegeben, mit Methamphetamin und Kokain gehandelt zu haben.

Michael Douglas hatte das Gericht zuvor in einem Brief um Milde gebeten. Er habe eine ganz gute Vorstellung davon, wie schwierig es sei, als Sohn eines berühmten Vaters seine eigene Identität zu finden, zitierten die New Yorker "Daily News" aus dem fünfseitigen Schreiben des 65-Jährigen an das Gericht.

In dem "ordentlichen, handgeschriebenen" Brief beschrieb Douglas die Umstände, unter denen Cameron groß wurde. Er sei als Einzelkind in einer "schlimmen Ehe" aufgewachsen und mit einem Vater, der oft unterwegs war. Zwar sei sein Sohn nun "erwachsen und für seine Handlungen verantwortlich", "wir wissen aber, dass Gene, Familie und Gruppenzwang einen starken Einfuss auf einen Drogenabhängigen haben können".

Zuvor hatten bereits Camerons Großvater Kirk Douglas und seine Stiefmutter Catherine Zeta-Jones in Briefen um Gnade für den 31-Jährigen gebeten.
