![]() BROOKLINE, Mass. (A.W.)—The non-profit organization Facing History and Ourselves is holding a free online workshop, titled “The Armenian Genocide and International Justice,” beginning on Jan. 26 to provide educators with new teaching methods and classroom activities, and the opportunity to talk with noted Armenian Genocide scholars.
The workshop starts on Jan. 26 and takes place during a five-day period; the organizers ask that participants commit to logging on at least three times over the five days, for a minimum of five hours. The schedule is flexible to help participants work at their own pace. The event is recommended for Grades 6-12 U.S. history, world history, English language arts, and humanities teachers. Facing History also encourage teachers from human rights technical electives to participate. The organization believes that the driving force behind democracy is the ability of every rising generation to be active, responsible decision-makers, and that inspired teachers and innovative methods are key to achieving this goal. Facing History was founded in 1976 by educators who wanted to find better ways to engage students. To register, visit http://www.facinghistory.org/events/...tional-justice. The organization is providing a free copy of their book, Crimes Against Humanity and Civilization: The Genocide of the Armenians, to the first 300 people who register.
