Heikki Talvitie confirms 12, Rustavi-2 TV channel 30 dead in Armenian uprising

Iravan-APA. Heikki Talvitie, special envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office visiting Armenia said that crackdown on the opposition supporters was a groundless step.
APA reports quoting to Regnum that H.Talvitie demanded to ascertain the number of killed people on March 1-2. “I heard that 12 were killed”. Talvitie urged Armenian government to lift the state of emergency soon and to begin dialogue with Levon Ter-Petrosyan. “Levon Ter-Petrosyan said the dialogue was possible only after the state of emergency to be lifted. He speaks logically, because it is difficult to begin dialogue under present situation”. H. Talvitie said L. Ter-Petrosyan was under the de-facto home arrest. “He can move without security, but it is better if he stays at home in this case”. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has also expressed his serious concern about the clashes between police and demonstrators in Armenia. He urged Armenian government to lift the state of emergency soon.
The Georgian TV channel Rustavi-2 said according to the Armenian journalists 30 were killed during the clashes in Iravan.
