Post Studio Z to Exhibit Collection of Original Armenian Art

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—In an exhibit titled, “Armenian Artists: A Rich Collection of Original Armenian Art,” Studio Z will showcase works from nationally and internationally renowned artists from Sept. 3 to Oct. 3 in Providence. The opening reception will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 17.

In an exhibit titled, “Armenian Artists: A Rich Collection of Original Armenian Art,” Studio Z will showcase works from nationally and internationally renowned artists from Sept. 3 to Oct. 3 in Providence.

The artists include Kevork Mourad (b. 1970), three generations of Elibekian family painters, Simon Samsonian (b. 1915 – d. 2003), Zareh Mutafian (b. 1907 – d. 1980), Reuben Nakian (b. 1897 – d. 1986), Alexander Grigorian (b. 1927 – d. 2007), Hagop Hagopian (b. 1923 – d. 2013), Rafael Atoyan (b. 1931), Karnig Nalbandian (b. 1916 – d. 1989), Anoush Bargamian (b. 1963), Martin Barooshian (b. 1929), Seda Bekarian (b. 1953), Nora Chavooshian (b. 1953), Samuel Gareginyan (b. 1961), Emma Gregorian (b. 1943), PAKRAD (b. 1939), and Levon Parian (b.1954).

On Sat., Sept. 19, at 3 p.m., a book signing will be held at Studio Z with Aida Zilelian, author of the novel The Legacy of Lost Things, which traces the lives of three generations of Armenian immigrants and tells the story of Araxi, an Armenian teenager who runs away and leaves behind a family who struggles with her disappearance.

From Sept. 3-7, the Rhode Island Armenian community will be hosting the 82nd Annual Armenian Youth Federation (AYF) Olympic Games. Gallery/Studio Z director Berge Ara Zobian, who was part of the Cultural Committee of the AYF Olympics, will be supplying both historical artifacts and cultural fine art for the Labor Day weekend. Many of the thousands of Armenians gathering from throughout the country have been invited to attend the gallery exhibit.
