Post Two Armenians Killed in Aleppo Missile Attack

ALEPPO, Syria (A.W.)—Two Armenians were killed in attacks on the Armenian districts of Aleppo—especially in the Sulaymaniyah district—on April 25. Avedis Torosian (b. 1966) and George Tashjian (b. 1982) were killed in a rocket attack by militant opposition groups, while several others suffered injuries, reported Aleppo-based Kantsasar news. Many buildings, including homes and stores, also suffered extensive damage, according to the report.

Following the attacks, Kantsasar published an emergency notice online, urging the people of Aleppo to limit travel within the city to only emergency cases and to use only fortified and safe parts of their homes.

Less than two weeks ago, Aleppo’s Armenian-populated Nor Kyugh and Villaner districts were attacked by missiles on April 14, according to Kantsasar. The attack reportedly came from militant opposition groups that broke the agreed-upon ceasefire early in the morning. Some civilians sustained injuries and many buildings, including homes and stores, suffered extensive damage, according to the report.

On April 8, Kantsasar also reported that Sbidag Azad Ghazarian, a Kamishli-Armenian serving in the Syrian Army, was killed in action. Two days earlier, another ethnic-Armenian serviceman in the Syrian Armed Forces from Aleppo, Raffi Kazezian, was killed in action in Damascus.
