Tarakanian was in a tough primary race against Nevada State Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson.

A prominent businessman and son of renowned college basketball coach, the late Jerry Tarkanian, Danny has proven a passionate advocate of Armenian American concerns, according to the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). If successful in November, Tarkanian will be joining fellow Armenian American Representatives Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) and Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) in the U.S. House.

Last month, Tarkanian joined DemocraticCongressman Jim Costa and ANCA National Chairman Raffi Hamparian at the Central Valleys Flag Raising and Armenian Genocide Commemoration at the Fresno City Hall.

At the ceremony, Tarkanian shared his familys tragic experiences during the Genocide and acknowledged the recent passing of two prominent Armenian-Americansbusinessman Kirk Kerkorian and his father and basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian. He, too, ended his message with an appeal for activism by stating Speak-up and do something, otherwise evil will flourish.

Another ANCA-endorsed candidate, incumbent Dana Titus of Nevadas 1st Congressional district handily won the primary and will be on the November ballot.
