Post Uncle Garabed?s Notebook (Nov. 22, 2014)

From a Native American

The white man who is our agent is so stingy that he carries a linen rag in his pocket into which to blow his nose, for fear he might blow away something of value.

–Piapot, Cree Chief

A Modern Aphorism

After all is said and done, all that is left is laughter.

The Merry Widow

I have become a little older since I saw you last, and a few changes have come into my life since then. Frankly, I have become quite a frivolous old gal. I am seeing five gentlemen every day. As soon as I wake up, Will Power helps me get out of bed. Then I go see John. Then Charlie Horse comes along, and when he is here, he takes a lot of my time and attention. When he leaves, Arthur Ritis shows up and stays the rest of the day. He does not like to stay in one place very long, so he takes me from joint to joint. After such a busy day, I’m really tired and glad to go to bed with Ben Gay. What a life!

Yorkshire Miner’s Toast

May all your labors be in vein.

Spanish Proverb

He is always right who suspects that he is always making mistakes.

From My Persian Dictionary

Maral: hind (animal)

Zarb: hit

Ganj: hoard, treasure

Gur?z: hog, pig

What’s in a Name?

Fodulyan: Turkish in derivation, identified as a descriptive name, fodul is defined as vain, presumptuous, egotistical.
