Post WSU Theatre to Perform ‘Beast on the Moon’ to Honor Armenian Genocide

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in which countless Armenians were deported and killed in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. In recognition, Worcester State Theatre will perform Richard Kalinoski’s “Beast on the Moon,” a play about two genocide survivors.

In recognition, Worcester State Theater will perform Richard Kalinoski’s ‘Beast on the Moon.’

“Beast on the Moon” tells the story of Aram and Seta, two survivors living in 1920’s Milwaukee, Wisc. Aram, having lost his entire family, writes away for a mail-order bride as he wants to start a new family. Seta arrives and together they try to make a new life for themselves, but the physical and mental scars of war stand in the way.

“For me, this play is about memory,” said Flordelino Lagundino, director. “It is about the disconnection that the genocide has caused and the difficulty in reaching back and connecting themselves to their history, culture, and families that were stolen from them.”

The performances will take place on April 16, 17, and 18 at 8 p.m., and on April 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for $14 general admission, $10 seniors, and $7 students. Discounted prices for WOO card holders. For tickets, call (508)929-8843, email VPABoxOffice@worcester.edu, or go to the Fuller Theater box office on campus.» Tickets are also available at the door.
